MEETING NOTES

12/04/03 Meeting Notes:

Pizza Party at Ledo's attended by 20 guys! A near-record in total, a real record in that we had Larry Arseneau, Bob Schreiber, Naz Ziyad and John Wagner show!

A fun time was had by all. We're looking forward to 2004 flying, more road trips and more action at the new field. For the record, first flite at the new fioeld was on 07/11/2003. Reports now are that the field is in excellent condition.

01/02/2003 Meeting Notes:

Only 8 guys attended in January. Lots (>20) attended when pizza & beer was "free" in December. Shame on you! Esp. you, Franowsky, you only show up when there's food or something "free". Tsk. Tsk.

We need an "official" photographer to take digital pics at events in 2003 for our web site. It's worth the annual dues. Al V. has retired from this activity, effective 2002. Let me know if you're interested.

The new field has an E-W runway of 75' x 800' and will be the envy of all! You have to be a FLYER and part of the Eagles to use this resource. Flight stations will be on both the N and S sides of the flight line so that we can fly year round without issue of sun location. There will be berms for safety, so if you have trouble using coordinated rudder, you'll need to practice at the PRC field beforehand.

Al V. said there are Eagle pics at the following site: http://www.fly-giantrc.org/index.html Check it out!

Dues are due for 2003. $15. Pay Dave.

New email addresses are listed on this site for Gene Burnoski and Ron King. If yours needs to be changed, let me know. We need pics for you new members and those w/o their uniform so you can ugly up the site. Plse dress up for the next meeting and Gene and I will bring digital cameras to the mtg.

See y'all Thursday nite!

09/06/01

13 Guys present. We discussed events of the past month, remaining events, Paul's permanent relocation to Florida, and made a decision on the replacement caps .... after seeing two new options. Left for pizza at 08:00 p.m. Highlights:

Dayton event proved the need for better safety. One of our guys almost bought the farm due to an aircraft aerobatic flite error conducted by another pilot right on the flight line. While there appears to be a push for the Dayton show to exceed the Joe Nall event, our concern for safety means we might look to Louisville or another event at this time next year.
Dan Nocher has a story for us about his Champaign experience. We got a preview from RonK.
The Schedule's been updated ... check it out.
GeneB sent some pics which are on the Current Pics 2001 page. See here.

Good Luck, Paul & Marge! We wish you the very best and a long, long life together. Come and visit whenever you can. We will miss you.

JohnR heads for Poland next week and we won't see him for a while. Safe trip!

08/02/01

At the August meeting, Dave was gone and we have no notes other than a decision on cap replacement.

07/05/01

Must have been the 4th hangover! We had only 9 guys present.

06/07/01

We had 16 members present. We:
- Completed paperwork for the Air Show
- Reviewed all job assignments
- Updated the GLE Schedule for 2001
- Talked about servo arms & need to be aware of differences by manufacturer

We left for pizza at 08:30 p.m.

05/03/01

We had 15 members present.

Schedule development is in process. Lots of events in the surrounding area sound like fun. We'll post the updated schedule soon.

Ray Fuller spoke of the amazing Toledo show and all the new goodies available.

Bob Doornbos will be flying 2 of his new birds tomorrow. Frank Buzz flies his new Bipe at the farm on Saturday, 05/05.

Danny reviewed plans for the Fathers Day Show. Assignments will be posted soon on the web and at next month's meeting. Aircraft inspections will be required and stickers used. We will not use a PA system this year. Bob K is taking care of lunches from a new supplier. We'll be able to use Bob D's new van for lunch pick-up.

Plan to fly at Bob Schreiber's Farm on Saturday, 05/05! Call Bob D if any doubts as to weather cancellation (Bob D is the Trip Master and Event Coordinator for this one). We'll leave Bob D's at 08:00 a.m. and be at the Farm by 09:00 a.m.

The pizza and beer at Vito & Nick's II was superb!.

Frank Buzz showed off the custom gear he made for the T6 giants. Electric-operated, they are works of art and have reliable up and down locks at ends of travel. Operation is via a servo on each gear leg lifting an ultra-light weight 6" wheel. The gear legs are from Robart. The wheels are from Germany.

04/05/01

We had 14 members present.

We had much discussion on the Schedule for 2001, current events and the Toledo show. Ray & AlF are going to Toledo.

Bob Doornbos' new cruiser van was on display. He'll meet with Bob Schreiber and try to put together a fly-in for the end of April at the farm.

Only 4 guys have dues outstanding.

Dave passed around a financial report which included the asset listing. Club is in fine shape. The cost of supplies for new members has increased and is now at $110. On a unanimous Club vote, the membership fee has been raised to that number.

JohnR and BobD will work over the next week to complete an initial schedule for 2001. It s/b published to the web shortly thereafter.

Keep building! Get ready to fly!

A new pizza joint was attended following the meeting. All agreed that the quality of both pizza and beer was excellent. It is a family place and does not stink! We'll go there until such time as another meeting location is found. No one had found a better place yet. Keep looking!

Ray Fuller sent me "Rules of the Air" Click to take a look!

03/01/01

Web site changes.  Effective, 03/05/01, Rod vanHuis resigned from the webmaster job and Dave has picked up the task. There will be other changes downstream, but the most immediate and significant change is that THERE WILL NOT BE ANY POP-UP ADVERTISING to get in your way and frustrate you. You'll find the new site to be faster, too. Thanks for visiting!

We had 10 members, as well as one new member, present.  The new guy is Ron King from the 107th.  You'll like him.  He's growing into giant scale with a G-23 powered Stinger 120 and is looking forward to the Eagles' cameraderie.

Lots of discussion on aircraft activity, etc.  Bob Klaviter showed off his new combat plane and the interesting technique used to replace the prior downspout fuselage.  He had a micro-receiver on-board and a mixer for elevons that, together with the battery pack, fit into a very tiny box on the profile fuse.

No schedule yet developed.  Too early.

We had a bit of a discussion on the desire to find a better meeting location more conducive to bringing large models in for show & tell.  The current room may be a bit small.  Please look in your areas to find a location for us.

Dues have been paid by all but 7... the others are/were absent or out of town.  Andy B. tried to pay when he attended last month's meeting, but Dave wasn't there to take his money.  (Andy, it'd be OK to send a check.)

Dan Nocher got the Stinger kit for the 2001 Father's Day raffle.  The AMA Charter has been received.  AMA will send all future correspondence to the club president.  John R., do NOT SNAFU.  The Eagles would like you to look at all material the club has received, so we don't miss some bureaucratic filing.

Dave has reported that we have approx. $900 in treasury and an inventory of hats, caps & badges.  More details will follow.

In response to Martin's question and for the benefit of all, we discussed the use of pilot dress shirts vs. pull-over shirts at GLE meets. The pilot dress shirts have brought us more "prestige" when worn earlier.  The pull-over shirts, while desired by some, are just not "classy" enough for the Eagles.  Guys who want a pull-over (like the blue ones John W.  got for us years ago) can do so on their own and buy patches from Club inventory for those shirts.  However, we still expect that the pilot dress shirts will be worn when we go to events en masse.

Pizza & beer has been great.  However, the joint we go to makes clothing stink like smoke .... another reason to get back to Ledo's.

The info below concerns the electronic product Frank spoke of at the meeting.  It enables on-board power isolation for the Rx vs. Servos.  A copy of the High Flight Cover is shown. Click the cover to see the article.

No more paper newsletters.  Dave has resigned from production of snail-mail newsletters.  Email will be used in the future for meetings and announcements.  You should also be checking regularly the Eagles' web site for updates.

Volunteer services. will be requested for future production of paper newsletters and meeting announcements.  If anyone wants to do the job, please let Dave or John Russell know.

Newsletter content to web site.  Please send any material which could be used in a newsletter for benefit of members and other modelers to Dave.

2001 Flite Schedule.  Yet to be developed.  Send ideas to John Russell.  Many do not want to return to Dayton this year.  Prefer to do a different "Road Trip".

New Members.  We need more members who will fly!  Many of our current roster are not flying (old, retired, moved, worn out, etc.).  We need more flyers!  If you can recruit, please do it!

Dues Are Due.  Annual $15.  Payable now.  Send the check to Dave.
Meeting dates for 2001.  1st Thursday of the month at Oremus Center, Bridgeview.  07:00 p.m.  Here are the dates:

MARK 'EM ON YOUR CALENDAR!
