GLE Father's Day Air Show: see the photo
gallery to see more of the pics. Al Van Huis did a superb job.
We're likely to see them in a 2001 High Flight. We had a fine day with
over 55 flyers and over 60 planes. Many comments were received from
our guests about the quality and safety of our event. Hats off to the entire
team who helped in every way and to Dan N., who served as our CD for the
event. |
Oshkosh is coming on the weekend of 7/30. Martin
Stanley provided us with details of the bus trip to the EAA. There may
still be seats available. Contact Class Act Travel in Worth at 708-448-6560. |

On 08/20 many of us are going to the Streator Breakfast
Fly-In. Dave G. from the Streator club asked to make sure we were
coming when we met him at St. Charles. It's a fine site and event,
with great food and fun. Beans, not corn, in the adjacent fields.
Come on out!
Sorry, Jeff, but we'll have to pass on the Pratts Wayne
event on this date. |
Do not forget the Dayton and Winamac events in September. |
On June 26th, we lost Larry Porter. The club
sent flowers and many attended the wake. Gary sent us the following note:
My sincere thanks to all of the membership for their friendship and
support during this most difficult time. The smallest of the clubs truly
has the biggest heart. While his health prevented his participation in
most events, he was always proudest of his membership in the "Eagles." |
The Chicago Air Show will be presented on August
19-20. |
Come get your new hats! You'll love 'em. And
they WILL get attention. I'd bet that in future years, you'll see others
copying our new hats. |
From Jeff Peca, we got this terrible news last night:
My father-in-law, Lynda's Dad, was killed in a tragic car accident
last Saturday. He is being waked at Vandenburg Funeral Home located
at 17248 South Harlem this Saturday, July 22, from 2pm-8pm. Your prayers
are greatly appreciated. -Jeff |
Come on out to the meeting! See ya! |

THE NEW EAGLES
HAT...
Here's the new hat! We are very pleased with its appearance and
fit. We hope you'll agree. Pick yours up at this meeting. Cost:
$13, delivered. Call Dave for other arrangements. |

Full-scale JU-52 to be at Oskhosh
on 7/30/00. Crewman Dave Fairbrother lives in Cicero. |
The GLE tent at the St. Charles
show, July 14, 2000. |
A fine flyer, one tent away,
also at St. Charles. |

|
A great giant T-28. Flew like
a dream. |
The B-32 giant, the only one
of its kind, joined the WW2 bombers in the air over St. Charles.
One of many multi-engine aircraft in the show. |
The result of the X-1 crash
following launch from the B-29. We've seen this superb show performed
flawlessy at Dayton for the past two years. A SNAFU took out the
X-1. No injuries. |
